NomadUK Thistane Wading Jacket

The NomadUK Thistane Wading Jacket is a traditional, practical fishing jacket designed with the fly angler in mind. Its shorter wading-length cut provides freedom of movement while helping keep the jacket clear of the water when fishing deeper pools and runs.

Constructed with a Ventex breathable polycotton outer shell, the Thistane combines the traditional feel and appearance of a country fishing jacket with features specifically intended for days on the river.

A permanently fitted hood with peak provides additional protection in changeable weather, while the front of the jacket features two Velcro-fastened breast pockets for easy-access storage. The left breast pocket incorporates a drop-down Velcro fly-patch attachment, allowing the angler to keep frequently used flies conveniently to hand.

The jacket also features two external D-rings and a Velcro retaining strip positioned on the left shoulder, providing useful attachment points for fishing accessories and rod retention.

Inside, the Thistane has a smart tartan lining, together with two zipped internal pockets incorporated into the lower section. These sit within a protective waterproof lower lining area, adding useful secure storage while providing extra protection where moisture is most likely to collect.

Constructed with a Ventex breathable polycotton shell, the Thistane combines a traditional country appearance with a host of genuinely useful fishing features.

The jacket has a permanently fitted hood with peak, providing welcome protection when the weather turns. At the front are two generously sized Velcro-fastened breast pockets, keeping essential tackle readily accessible without adding lower pockets that can become submerged while wading.

The left breast pocket incorporates a fold-down cloth fly patch, providing a convenient place to keep frequently used flies while fishing. Two D-rings positioned close to the breast-pocket flaps provide additional attachment points for accessories.

A Velcro retaining strip on the left shoulder appears to have been designed as part of a rod-retaining system — a particularly useful feature when changing flies, leaders or tackling up on the riverbank.

Inside, the jacket is finished with a smart traditional tartan lining. Two zipped internal pockets are built into the protective waterproof lower lining section, giving secure storage for smaller valuables and fishing essentials.

This is very much an angler's jacket rather than simply an outdoor waterproof. The short cut, high-level storage, fly patch, attachment points and breathable construction all make sense when you're actually standing in a river.
